Mr. Thompson has practiced law in Queen Anne's County from 1975 to the present. From 1975 to 1986 he practiced with Edward Turner eventually establishing the firm of Turner and Thompson. In 1986 he established a sole practice in Grasonville, Maryland which continued until 1993. He was a partner in the firm of Foster, Braden & Thompson, LLP from 1993 until the establishment of Braden, Thompson & Poltrack, LLP in 2012.

Mr. Thompson is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals (Fourth Circuit), and the United States Tax Court.

Mr. Thompson is a life-long resident of Queen Anne's County. He has served as County Attorney since 1980. In addition to municipal law, Mr. Thompson has extensive experience in the areas of real estate, estates, corporate and civil and criminal litigation. He resides in Queenstown, Maryland with his wife, Pam.
